Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are widely regarded as the backbone of the ASEAN economy. In every member state—from Indonesia to Vietnam, from the Philippines to Singapore—MSMEs play a pivotal role in driving employment, innovation, and inclusive economic growth. According to the ASEAN Secretariat and the OECD (2022), MSMEs account for more than 97% of all registered businesses in the region and contribute significantly to national employment and GDP.
